LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASSES
Becoming an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard is simple.
1. Be at least 15 years old by the last day of the course, listed below.
2. Be among the first 12 to take the $25 Swim Assessment listed below (up to 30 days before the class begins) AND pay for the $150 course (all materials provided). Swim Assessments are available almost any time at our indoor pools.
3. Attend all classes and successfully complete exams. This certification is valid for two years and is required to work as a lifeguard at most aquatics facilities in the U.S.
Swim Assessment Requirements:
a.) Demonstrate that you are able to swim 300 yards continuously, no stopping, using the front crawl and breaststroke.
b.) Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-pound object from the bottom of the pool, swim 20 yards with the object, and exit the pool without using the steps within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
c.) Tread water with no hands for 2 minutes.
